Unexpectedly, his final battle came in the form of an aggressive small cell cancer that filled his liver. And still he overcame, winning the Kingdom of God to come for Eternity.

Obituary Preview: Robert Russelles Perry, Jr. was born to the union of the late Rev. & Mrs. Robert R. Perry, Sr. on August 15, 1960. Robert received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at a young age. He was a member of Mount Triumph Baptist Church throughout his childhood and as an adult. Robert departed this life on March 5, 2024.
Robert attended Peabody High School and was in the graduating Class of 1978. Robert began his career at Placid Refining Company, LLC and Atlantic Oil Company (AOC). He enjoyed a steady rise to supervision of a crew on the oil rig. He worked for AOC for 20 years. Robert had several entrepreneurial experiences, and he was most blessed by Rob’s Cleaning and Power Wash, Inc. where he founded and managed the company. One of his largest clients was Albertson Food Stores. Robert also earned his General Contractor’s License. He enjoyed helping others and provided services in building renovations, lawn care services, and teaching others about what success looks like for aspiring young entrepreneurs including his children.
Robert enjoyed life to the fullest! He believed in taking care of his family, lots of barbecues, dancing, singing, and working. Robert had some health challenges over the past 4 years, and still found a way to encourage others and to give advice and instruction about life experiences, and the importance of making sure your choice to accept Jesus Christ and follow Him, was sure.
Robert was married to Aletha Taylor, with a union of four children: Irvin Cox, Antonio Cox, Aiesha Cox Mims, and Ahmad Cox. Robert also was previously married to Angela Douglas, with a union of one son: Robert Perry, III, the eldest son. Robert is survived by his wife Aletha, and all his children, brothers, and sisters, and a host of grandchildren, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

Granddaughters: Lindsey Thurmon, Brittany Gentile, Misty Penn, Ariel Piepiora and Bayli Malbreaugh.
A great number of extended family, friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Williamson, Sr., parents, Vern and Beulah Guimbellot. Brothers, Vern 'Buddy" Guimbellot Jr., Jerry Guimbellot. Daughter, Carla Hendry, Grandson Donald Hendry. Daughters-in-law Barbara Hendry and Dawn Arndt.

Obituary Preview: FRED GRAY, SR. was born October 14, 1933, to the union of the late Jim gray and Eolar Bonier. Fred accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.  He attended St. Matthews Baptist Church in Colfax, Louisiana under the leadership of Reverend Otha Watkins.  He later moved to Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Rube Tademy, where he served as a faithful member until his death.
FRED was joined in matrimony to Betty Beatrice Scott.  To this union was born 4 girls and 8 boys.  Beatrice White, California (5), Edna Gray, Louisiana (5), Shirley Jones, California (7), Janice Gray, California (8), Jimmy Gray, Louisiana (3), Gary Gray, California, Eric Gray, California (1), Fred Gray Jr. Louisiana (4) Bobby Gray, Kansas City (3), Donald Gray, Louisiana (2), Sherman Gray, California (6), Adrian Gray, California (7), Two sons-Anthony Vinson, Louisiana and Marcus Vinson of Louisiana.
FRED was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sisters-Josephine Miles and Leona Baines.  Three brothers, Izeal Gray, Brooker T. Gray and Jessie Gray.  Three Children-Janice Gray, Gary Gray and Eric Gray.
Fred is survived by his sister Ida Mae Harrell and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  He also leaves a special friend of many years, Ms. Katherine Harrell.

Obituary Preview: Tyrone Jamarcus Allen (TJ) was born on September 15, 1998, to the union of Tyrone Allen and Teola Ellis-Allen.  On January 13,2024, TJ was called to his heavenly home after a hard-fought battle with sarcoma lung cancer.  He was baptized by the late Rev. Robert Granvel at Second New Light Baptist Church.
TJ lived life to the fullest.  He attended several Carnival Cruises.  TJ always wanted to become a truck driver since he was 5 years old.  After graduating from Peabody Magnet High School, he started working for Cleco.  TJ wanted to fulfill his dream of being a truck driver.  He earned his CDL shortly after leaving Cleco.  His trucking jobs were at RSI, Techline, and H&E Equipment Services. He loved his job at H&E Equipment Services.  He had a great group of people he enjoyed and loved working with until his passing.
TJ had a great work ethic instilled in him that he inherited from both his parents.  He was loyal, honest, reliable and friendly.  TJ was always positive and optimistic about life.  He was loved by many.  Once TJ befriended someone, he behaved as an actual friend.
TJ was preceded in death by his father, Tyrone Allen, his grandparents, Martha Cross-Allen and John Allen Sr.  and Teola Adams-Ellis and Eugene Ellis Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Teola Allen, his sister, Daphne Allen both of Alexandria, La.  and his brother Adrian Ellis (Jessica) of Norwood, Ohio.  He loved being an uncle to Rayvon Corley Jr. Malakai Longieliere and Mi'Kaelah Longieliere.  He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and his fur son Gumbeaux Allen

Lawson (Margie) was born to the late Ed Boose and Floria Boose on April 24, 1936, in Alexandria, Louisiana.  She peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on January 4, 2024.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Isaiah J. Lawson, Jr. Her parents, Ed & Floria Boose, sisters Mytel Nelson & Johnetta Boose Burns and Brother Howard Johnson.
Margie as she was affectionately known by many accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age attending True Vine Missionary Baptist Church.  She later joined Bethel A.M.E. Church where she was a dedicated member for over 60 years.  Majorie (Margie) graduated from Cohen High School in New Orleans, Louisiana and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from her beloved Southern University.  Margie was an educator for the Rapides Parish School System for 40 Years.  She taught First and Second Grades at Silver City Elementary (later remain W.O. Hall), Aaron Street Elementary School and Martin Park Elementary School, where she was one of the first African American educators to integrate the Rapides Parish School System.  Margie along with other forward-thinking women brought Jack and Jill of America to the Alexandria area.  Margie and these women are known as the charter members of the Alexandria Chapter.
Margie leaves to cherish her memories her son, Isaiah Joseph Lawson III (Pamela) of Ashburn, Va.  Two grandchildren, Tanika Daniels (Rich) of Arlington Texas, and Jason Blackwell of Alexandria.  Seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. One niece, Liqusha-Sabastian Burns, one great niece Brittnay Burns and a host of family and devoted friends.

Obituary Preview: Delyle James Baltzer, 89, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away November 24, 2023. Born in South Dakota September 12, 1934, Lyle was the fourth child of John T. and Nathalie (Mogck) Baltzer. Lyle grew up on a farm that his grandparents homesteaded in Scotland, South Dakota.
In his early years, Lyle attended a one room country schoolhouse that had no more than 18 students, all different grades, through the 8th grade. Then he attended high school in Scotland,S.D., where he played the Baritone Horn in the school’s band.
Lyle attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. After his junior year, he volunteered for the draft and served in the Army. He was stationed in South Korea were played the Baritone Horn in the Infantry Division Band. After completing 2 years of service, he returned to University of South Dakota to finish his final year of undergraduate studies where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Lyle married Sue Ellen Waters a few years later, and eventually moved to Van Meter, Iowa where they raised their 3 daughters on a small acreage with horses, cats and dogs. Lyle enjoyed gardening and the beautiful scenery of this small rural midwestern town. After retiring, he moved to the warmer climate of Alexandria, Louisiana where he spent the rest of his years.
Lyle was adventurous, as evidenced by animated stories of his time working at a dude ranch in Colorado, fighting wildfires at Tin Cup Lake in Montana, and road tripping from South Dakota to Mexico City with his brother and friends. In retirement, he enjoyed taking cruises to the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and more.
Above all else, Lyle was a devoted and loving father and grandfather. Left to cherish Lyle’s life are his three daughters Emily Sue Weslake, Eleanor Lynn Hartsock, and Amy Baltzer Stone, his 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Married to Benard Williams Sr. on June 11, 1960, their 63 year journey has been marked by adventure, resilience and a profound love that withstood the test of time.  Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of strength and resilience through her beloved husband, three children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.  Elizabeth's wisdom and humor created lasting bonds, and will be eternally missed.

Obituary Preview: Mr. Lawrence Neal Young, Jr. ended his battle with cancer on November 19, 2023, at his residence.  Lawrence graduated from Peabody High School and Southern University.  Lawrence worked and retired from the city of Detroit.  He loved playing dominoes and cheering on his Saints and Astros.  he was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.  He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Lawrence III, and Dorian, one daughter, Tauri.  Sisters, Yvonne and Connie, one brother Victor. Nephews, Eric, Terry, Ronald and Steven.  Three grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lawrence's services will be held at Winnfield Funeral Home-Alexandria 2033 3rd Street, Alexandria, Louisiana on Tuesday November 28, 2023.  Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and services will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be immediately after services at the Garden of Memories Cemetary.

He served faithfully in many capacities including Church School Teacher, Church School Superintendent, Trustee, Choir Member, and Associate Minister. While everyone around him recognized the calling on his life, he continued with his passion for teaching and sharing God’s word until he acknowledged his calling to enter the ministry later in life. He was licensed to preach on March 23, 1997, by Presiding Elder J.K. Holiday. He was ordained as a Local Deacon and later as a Local Elder in the AME Church by Presiding Elder C.G. Henning Sr. On October 27, 2002, Presiding Elder Henning appointed him as Pastor of Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church in Lena, LA where he had been assisting for an extended period of time.
